With so many options to control your DMX lighting, one of the biggest questions is, which control platform is best for YOU? There are now four different ways to control your lighting, from hardware, software, app, and wireless. Just like with anything, there are advantages and disadvantages with these options, so you just have to be sure that you fully understand the lighting you own, to best take control.
Certain things to factor are, the amount of colors in an LED Par/Bar, pan/tilt channels, and most importantly, your different channel modes, and seeing what maximum channel mode your fixtures have. This will be the first step in determining what will work best for you. Take for example, our MY MDX Buddy. If you own just a few lights, and have either a Mac or pc, you can use this controller to control up to 256 dmx channels. Have a few more lights, and want to use your iPhone or iPad? The Airstream DMX Bridge has been our best solution! Since we are talking iPads, and/or tablets, one of the most popular solutions for ease of use, is our My DMX GO, where all of the programming has already been done for you!
For a bit more advanced solutions, ADJ now offers some exciting products. For easy stand alone operation, users can select the MY DMX RM, which allows for 16 recorded scenes. Once the scenes have been stored, the computer can be disconnected and each scene can then be selected by the compact rack mountable MY DMX RM.
Lastly, the most powerful software solution we have is the Compu Show SD. This offers multiple DMX universes of control, page layering, as well as the ability to program a lightshow synced to music. This software was used for many years in programming our tradeshow booths, and is also the program we used for many of our amazing light shows you have maybe seen.
This might seem like an information overload, but I would definitely like to mention, that staff is always standing by, to help with any questions you might have. Please do not hesitate to ask!
